The Z300 is Kawasaki's entry-level naked that actually makes sense as a used buy. It's essentially a Z-badged Ninja 300 with the fairings stripped off, which means you get a proven parallel-twin that's genuinely bulletproof if the previous owner wasn't an idiot. These bikes live hard lives as learner machines, so inspect the bar ends, footpegs, and frame sliders carefully — most examples have kissed tarmac at least once. The 39hp motor pulls cleanly through the rev range and the suspension, while basic, handles real-world roads without embarrassing itself. Here's the honest part: if you're an experienced rider looking for something to commute on, you'll outgrow this within a season. The 300cc displacement runs out of breath above 80mph and highway cruising feels breathless. But for city riding, tight mountain roads, or genuinely learning bike control? It's surprisingly capable. Parts are cheap, dealers know them well, and insurance costs nearly nothing. Just avoid anything with more than 15,000 miles unless the price reflects it.
