Mv Agusta Rivale 800 Review
"Breathtaking when right, brutal when wrong — buy carefully."
Used Buyer Review
The Rivale 800 is genuinely one of the most stunning motorcycles ever bolted together, and that Triple motor — shared with the Brutale — absolutely sings between 6,000 and 11,000 rpm. You'll forgive a lot when the engine sounds like that. But you need to go in with eyes open: MV Agusta's build quality during this era was inconsistent at best, and ownership costs will humble you. Budget for dealer servicing because DIY intervals are tight and the electronics can throw tantrums. Inspect any used example obsessively. Check the throttle bodies for sync issues, look for oil weeping around the engine cases, and ask hard questions about the service history. Skipped services are a red flag — these engines don't forgive neglect. The suspension is genuinely excellent for a naked bike, but aftermarket support is limited compared to Japanese alternatives. If you find a well-maintained, fully serviced example with receipts, it's a rewarding, characterful machine unlike anything else. If you find a cheap one with mystery history, walk away without hesitation.
