Yamaha Tracer 9 Gt
The Yamaha Tracer 9 GT was introduced in 2021 as an evolution of the Tracer 900 GT, featuring a redesigned 890cc inline-three engine with improved power and a new chassis. It represented a significant upgrade over its predecessor with a full-color TFT display, electronically adjustable suspension (KYB semi-active on the GT variant), cruise control, and a cornering ABS system. The Tracer 9 GT quickly became one of the most well-regarded sport-touring middleweights due to its balance of performance, comfort, and advanced electronics.

What Buyers Should Know
Rock-Solid Engine Reliability
The CP3 847cc triple-cylinder engine is derived from the MT-09 platform, which has an excellent long-term reliability record with minimal reported mechanical failures. Regular valve checks at 26,600 miles are the main maintenance item to budget for.
Connectivity Wins Buyers Over
The GT trim includes a full TFT display with Bluetooth smartphone integration, cruise control, and a heated grips/seat combo rarely found at this price point. These premium features help the GT retain resale value notably better than the base Tracer 9.
Watch the Quickshifter
Some early 2021-2022 owners reported inconsistent quickshifter behavior under hard acceleration, which Yamaha addressed via software updates. Always check that the latest ECU firmware has been applied before purchasing a used example.
