Suzuki V-strom 1000

Suzuki V-strom 1000

The Suzuki V-strom 1000 has a top speed of 210 km/h (estimated; manufacturer limited), produces 99 hp and weighs 228 kg. Motoryk rates it 8/10.

🔧

Bulletproof V-Twin Engine

The 1037cc V-twin engine is renowned for its longevity, commonly reaching 100,000+ miles with basic maintenance. It shares DNA with Suzuki's TL1000 sportbike, giving it a proven performance heritage.

⚠️

Watch the Throttle Bodies

Early models (2002–2012) are prone to throttle body sync issues, causing rough idle and hesitation. Budget for a periodic throttle body synchronization service, especially on used examples with unknown maintenance history.

💰

Strong Resale Value

The V-Strom 1000 holds its value exceptionally well due to high demand and reputation for reliability, often retaining 70–80% of its value after three years. Its affordable new price also makes used examples a smart buy in the adventure-touring segment.

8.2/10

8.0/10
Idéal pour
High-mileage tourers wanting reliable, affordable adventure

"Unbeatable value adventure tourer if you buy smart."

$4,500-$8,500 used

The V-Strom 1000 is one of the great unsung workhorses of the used bike market. That 90-degree V-twin pulls hard from about 3,000rpm and never really stops — it's genuinely usable torque, not just numbers on a spec sheet. The chassis is forgiving without feeling sloppy, and you can hustle it through corners with real confidence once you stop treating it like a boat. Early models pre-2014 had some fueling grumpiness at low throttle openings, so budget for a Power Commander or throttle body sync if you go that route. Check the bevel gears on the shaft drive religiously — neglected oil changes trash them faster than you'd think. Also inspect the subframe mounting points if you're looking at anything with luggage history. These bikes get worked, and they show it. The good news is parts are cheap, dealers know them, and the community support online is excellent. At the right price, it's a 600-mile-day machine that costs Tuesday-night money. Hard to argue with that.
