Ktm Duke 390

The Ktm Duke 390 has a top speed of 167 km/h, produces 46 hp and weighs 171 kg. Motoryk rates it 7.8/10.

⚙️

Watch the Cooling System

The Duke 390 is known to run hot in heavy traffic due to its liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Owners commonly report the radiator fan cycling frequently in stop-and-go conditions, so ensure the cooling system is well-maintained.

📉

Strong Resale Value

The Duke 390 holds its value exceptionally well in the used market, often retaining 70-80% of its price after one year. Its strong brand reputation and high demand among newer riders make it easy to sell.

🔧

Slipper Clutch Advantage

The Duke 390 comes equipped with a standard slipper clutch, a feature rare in its price segment. This reduces rear wheel hop during aggressive downshifting and significantly lowers rider fatigue on longer rides.

Commuters wanting sporty weekend performance too

"An electrifying buy if you choose the right year carefully."

$3,500-$5,800 used

The 390 Duke is one of those bikes that makes you feel like a hero on a Tuesday morning commute. That LC4-derived single thumps out 43hp in a chassis that weighs bugger all, so it feels genuinely fast where it counts — tight urban roads and B-road blasts. The WP suspension and Bosch cornering ABS are genuinely premium kit at this price point, and the TFT dash still impresses. Buy carefully though. Used examples need serious scrutiny. KTM's build quality has improved but early units (2017-2019 especially) had throttle body issues, stator failures, and frame crack reports around the steering head. Always check service history — owners who skipped the 5,000km oil changes cooked these motors. Look for any orange-tinted coolant which means overheating neglect. The 2020+ bikes are considerably more sorted. Price-wise, they depreciate hard after year two which is your opportunity. A well-maintained 2021 with under 15,000km is the sweet spot. Parts are reasonable, dealer network has grown, and the riding experience genuinely punches three weight classes above its price.
