Ktm Adventure 990 Smt
The KTM 990 SMT (SuperMoto Travel) was introduced in 2009 as a street-focused supermoto-touring hybrid, built on the acclaimed 990 Adventure platform but with a more upright ergonomic position and street-biased geometry. It was designed to bridge the gap between aggressive supermoto performance and long-distance touring capability, featuring luggage mounts and a comfortable riding position. Production ended around 2013 when KTM shifted focus to the newer 1190 Adventure platform, making the 990 SMT a well-regarded but relatively short-lived model among enthusiasts.

What Buyers Should Know
LC8 Engine Longevity
The 999cc LC8 V-twin engine is known to last well beyond 100,000 km with proper maintenance, but valve clearance checks every 15,000 km are critical and often overlooked by previous owners.
Watch the Throttle Bodies
A common issue on the 990 SMT is throttle body synchronization drift over time, causing rough idle or surging — relatively cheap to fix but worth inspecting before purchase.
Strong Resale Retention
The 990 SMT has a cult following and limited production numbers, which helps it hold value better than many comparable adventure-naked bikes from the same era.
