Ik heb bijna 18.000 km gereden op een F4i uit 2003 en de brandstofinjectie alleen al maakte het de upgrade waard ten opzichte van de F4 met carbed. Koude starts in de winter waren een non-event, gasrespons was vrij van stationair toerental. Hij trekt hard vanaf 8.000 tpm en schreeuwt absoluut voorbij de 11.000, maar daaronder werk je met de versnellingsbak om in de powerband te blijven, wat vermoeiend wordt tijdens het woon-werkverkeer. De vering is eerder competent dan inspirerend — hij kan de dagen op het circuit goed genoeg aan, maar voelde een beetje zacht en vaag aan in het midden van de bocht op versleten wegen, totdat ik de voorspanning opdraaide en beter rubber monteerde. Honda heeft dit ding gebouwd om lang mee te gaan: het mijne heeft nooit een onderhoudsinterval gemist, me nooit gestrand, en de enige echte frustratie was hoe snel het standaard stoelschuim na ongeveer 5.000 km in een plank zakte.
