Bmw S 1000 Rr

The Bmw S 1000 Rr has a top speed of 299 km/h (electronically limited; estimated ~306 km/h unlimitited), produces 210 hp and weighs 197 kg. Motoryk rates it 9/10.

The BMW S 1000 RR was introduced in 2009 as BMW Motorrad's first purpose-built Superbike, developed specifically to compete in the Superbike World Championship. It debuted to widespread acclaim for its innovative electronics package including race ABS, traction control, and multiple riding modes, setting a new benchmark in the class. The model underwent significant redesigns in 2015 and again in 2019, with the 2019 generation introducing a ShiftCam variable valve timing system and a more aggressive aerodynamic package, cementing its reputation as one of the finest production superbikes ever built.

What Buyers Should Know

⚙️

Watch the Fuel Pump

Early S1000RR models (2010-2014) had known fuel pump failures that could leave you stranded. BMW issued recalls, but always verify recall work was completed before buying used.

📈

Strong Resale Value

The S1000RR holds its value exceptionally well compared to Japanese superbikes, typically retaining 70-80% after two years. The 2019+ redesign with ShiftCam technology commands a noticeable premium.

🏁

ShiftCam Tech Advantage

The 2019+ models introduced BMW's ShiftCam variable valve timing, boosting both low-end torque and top-end power simultaneously — a rare engineering feat in production superbikes.

Used Buyer Review

9.0/10
Best for
Experienced riders wanting daily-usable superbike performance

"Unbeatable superbike if you buy one with full history."

$9,000-$18,000 used

The S1000RR is genuinely one of the finest motorcycles ever built, but buying one used requires serious homework. The 2019-onwards models with ShiftCam technology are the sweet spot — responsive, adjustable, and genuinely tractable in lower modes. Earlier 2010-2018 bikes are still rapid but feel a generation behind electronically. Whatever year you're looking at, pull the service history hard. These engines will happily exceed 50,000 miles if maintained properly, but neglected ones can develop throttle body issues and the HP4 variants have notoriously fragile carbon wheels. Fork seals and brake fluid changes are frequently skipped by owners who only track-day the thing twice then park it. Check brake disc thickness carefully — track use chews through them fast. The electronics suite on post-2019 cars is genuinely brilliant, DDC suspension included, but when it goes wrong it goes expensive. Budget £500-800 annually for consumables minimum. This isn't a casual purchase. Respect what it is, buy with full history, and it'll reward you every single ride.
