Used Buyer Review

The Duke 690 is KTM's Jekyll and Hyde machine — brilliant when it's singing, infuriating when it isn't. That LC4 single thumps out serious performance for a solo-cylinder, but it runs hot, vibrates at certain revs, and the earlier bikes had notorious stator and rectifier issues that'll leave you stranded if the previous owner ignored them. Check the service history religiously. If someone can't produce receipts, walk away. Riding one that's healthy though? Genuinely special. It's flickable, punchy, and communicates everything through the bars in a way modern bikes simply don't bother with anymore. The naked ergonomics suit city riding and B-roads equally well. Just budget for consumables — KTM's running costs aren't Honda territory. For used examples, avoid anything pre-2017 unless it's had the electrical gremlins professionally sorted. The 2017-onwards facelift addressed most headaches. Get a compression test done before handing over cash. These engines last well when maintained, but neglected ones are expensive paperweights.

+Punchy real-world performance

-Vibration at cruising speeds
