Used Buyer Review
The Ninja 500 is one of those bikes that punches well above its price bracket on the used market. It's genuinely quick enough to embarrass sportbikes twice its displacement in city traffic, yet forgiving enough that a newer rider won't immediately bin it. The parallel-twin delivers smooth, linear power with no nasty surprises — exactly what you want when you're still building confidence or just want a fuss-free commuter that also handles weekend canyon runs without feeling like a compromise. Buy one with decent service history and you're looking at an incredibly reliable machine. The EX500 platform is bulletproof if maintained, but watch for neglected chains, worn rear tires hiding poor alignment, and seized calipers on bikes that sat unused. Cosmetic damage is almost guaranteed on used examples — these bikes get dropped. That's fine. What matters is the frame and forks are straight. Check those first, ignore the scratches.
