The 1002cc inline-four pulls hard from basically anywhere in the rev range — it's not as peaky as its Japanese rivals, which actually makes it more liveable on real roads. Handling is predictable rather than razor-sharp, but point it into a corner properly and it rewards you. For a bike from the mid-nineties, the ergonomics are surprisingly reasonable for longer rides. When buying used, check the frame for stress cracks around the steering head — these things got thrashed by track day warriors.
