Yamaha Yzf-r6s

The Yamaha Yzf-r6s has a top speed of 255 km/h, produces 110 hp and weighs 191 kg. Motoryk rates it 8/10.

Watch the Throttle Bodies

The R6S can develop rough idle and hesitation due to dirty or out-of-sync throttle bodies. Regular synchronization every 12,000–15,000 miles keeps fueling smooth and prevents costly issues.

💰

Solid Resale Value

As a carbureted or fuel-injected variant of Yamaha's legendary R6 platform, the R6S holds its value well among sport bike buyers. Clean, low-mileage examples remain desirable and rarely depreciate sharply.

⚙️

Street-Tuned Engine Advantage

Unlike the track-focused R6, the R6S is detuned slightly for better low-to-mid range torque, making it more forgiving and livable for daily riding. This also means less mechanical stress and longer engine longevity with proper maintenance.

"A brilliant sportbike buy if maintenance history checks out cleanly."

$4,500-$7,500 used

The R6S was Yamaha's street-friendly detuned variant of the full R6, and honestly that makes it a smarter used buy for most people. You're getting the same gorgeous chassis and razor-sharp handling without quite as much top-end aggression demanding track-day commitment every weekend. The 599cc inline-four still pulls hard enough to embarrass most riders, just not quite as violently past 10,000rpm. Check the throttle bodies carefully — these things were notoriously fussy when neglected, and a full sync job isn't cheap. Mileage matters less than maintenance history here. Find one with documented valve clearance checks and you're golden. Ignore that and you're gambling. Seat ergonomics are punishing beyond 45 minutes — this isn't a commuter, it's a focused sporting tool. Fairings are expensive to replace, so inspect every panel before handing over cash. Previous owners who tracked it hard will have worn through rear tires suspiciously fast and possibly flogged the suspension beyond its service life.
