The Apache RTR 200 4V is genuinely one of the better budget performance bikes you can pick up used, and TVS got a lot right here. The 197.75cc oil-cooled single punches out around 20-21bhp which feels lively enough in traffic, and that slipper clutch on later models is a proper nice touch you wouldn't expect at this price point. Handling is composed without being nervous — it's a bike you can push without it punishing beginner mistakes. That said, go in with eyes open. These bikes attract enthusiastic younger riders, so check the bodywork carefully for off-road adventures the previous owner conveniently forgot to mention. The fuel injection versions from 2018 onwards are noticeably smoother — avoid early carbureted examples if you can help it. Vibrations above 7,000rpm are real and long-distance comfort is mediocre at best. Service history matters here; the valve clearances need attention and neglected examples get rattly fast. Find a clean one-owner bike and you've landed a genuinely rewarding machine.
