Recorrí 18.000 km en una ZZR1400 del 2008 y nada de esa época igualaba su doble personalidad: lo suficientemente dócil como para filtrarse por el tráfico urbano a 40 km/h y, además, absolutamente salvaje en cuanto chocas contra una rampa de acceso a la autopista y pisas el acelerador más allá de la gama media. La inducción del aire comprimido choca como un tren de mercancías a más de 7.000 rpm; no se acelera tanto como se desplaza. El chasis monocasco de aluminio es sorprendentemente estable para 258 kg de bicicleta, pero ese peso es muy real en aparcamientos lentos y en carreteras técnicas de montaña donde una ZX-10R puede resultar embarazosa. The ZZR1400 is essentially a nuclear warhead disguised as a sport-tourer, and buying one used is genuinely good value if you pick carefully. The 1441cc engine is almost comically powerful — 200-plus horsepower in stock trim — and it pulls hard enough to rearrange your organs at any speed in any gear. Early 2006-2011 models lack the electronic rider aids of later bikes, so treat those with respect. The chassis is surprisingly planted for something this heavy, and highway miles genuinely suit it better than canyon carving. For used buying, inspect the fairings carefully — replacement panels are expensive and fragile. Check for crash damage on the frame sliders and exhaust headers. Suspension sag on high-mileage examples is common, so bounce the forks and check rear linkage for slop. Anything over 30,000 miles deserves a compression test. Tyre condition matters enormously on a bike this fast — budget for fresh rubber immediately.
