Ducati Multistrada 1200

The Ducati Multistrada 1200 has a top speed of 240 km/h (estimated, electronically influenced), produces 150 hp and weighs 215 kg. Motoryk rates it 8/10.

Was Käufer wissen sollten

⚙️

Desmo Service Costs

The Multistrada 1200 requires Desmodromic valve service every 15,000 miles, which can cost $600–$1,200 at a dealer. Budget for this when buying used, as many owners skip it.

📡

Skyhook Suspension Tech

Post-2013 models feature Ducati Skyhook semi-active suspension, a rare feature in its class that continuously adjusts damping in real time. However, faulty suspension sensors are a known issue to inspect before buying.

💰

Strong Resale Value

The Multistrada 1200 holds its value well compared to competitors, retaining roughly 60–70% of its value after three years. Low-mileage, well-serviced examples are especially sought after on the used market.

Experienced riders wanting one bike does everything

"Brilliant bike, but budget for maintenance or walk away."

$7,500-$14,000 used

The Multistrada 1200 is genuinely one of the most capable motorcycles ever built, but buying one used demands serious due diligence. That Testastretta 11° engine is brilliant — flexible, muscular, characterful in ways Japanese twins simply aren't — but the electronics suite was cutting-edge for its era, and aging sensors plus dodgy throttle bodies can turn a bargain into a money pit fast. Always check the service history obsessively. Desmo services aren't cheap, and skipped intervals show up eventually. The riding experience itself is hard to fault. Four riding modes, semi-active suspension, and that torquey V-twin make it genuinely comfortable on a 400-mile day yet properly exciting when you want it. Early examples (2010-2012) had throttle snatch issues that software updates largely fixed. Later S variants with Skyhook suspension are worth the premium if budget allows. Avoid anything with unknown history or evidence of a drop — the fairing repairs alone will break your heart financially.
