Vespa Vxl 150 Review
"Beautiful, capable city scooter that punishes neglect and ignorance harshly."
Used Buyer Review
The VXL 150 is Vespa doing what Vespa does — charging a premium for Italian styling and a riding experience that's genuinely different from Japanese scooters. That single-sided steel monocoque body looks stunning but dents embarrassingly easy, so inspect every panel before handing over cash. The 150cc single-cylinder engine pulls smoothly enough for city work but don't expect highway heroics — 55mph is comfortable, 65mph is optimistic. Fuel economy sits around 65-70mpg, which is decent consolation. Used examples between 2016-2022 are plentiful now, and that's where the smart money goes. Watch for rust around the floorboard edges and check the automatic transmission CVT belt — they go soft around 15,000 miles and owners ignore it. Service history matters enormously here because neglected Vespas become expensive Vespas. Parts availability has improved but dealer markups still sting. Budget $200-300 annually for maintenance beyond basics.
