Kawasaki Zephyr 550 Review
"A trustworthy classic that rewards patient buyers who inspect carefully."
Used Buyer Review
The Zephyr 550 is one of those bikes that flies completely under the radar, and honestly that works in your favour when buying used. It's a proper old-school naked with that air-cooled inline-four pulling cleanly from low revs — nothing exciting, nothing terrifying, just a genuinely pleasant motorcycle that does exactly what you ask of it. Carbs are simple to work on, parts are still findable, and the ergonomics suit a wide range of riders without complaint. Where it gets tricky is condition. These are old bikes now and neglected examples are everywhere. Jetting issues from sitting, tired fork seals, and corroded carb slides are the usual suspects. Budget £200-300 for a proper carb clean and service before you trust it. Check the frame around the headstock carefully — budget riders aren't always gentle riders. A clean, honest example with receipts is worth every penny of the premium.
