Der Yamaha XJ6 wurde 2009 als nackter Roadster im Mittelgewicht für neue und fortgeschrittene Fahrer vorgestellt und ersetzte den in die Jahre gekommenen XJ600S Diversion. Was Käufer wissen sollten

🔧

Proven Reliable Engine

The XJ6 uses a detuned version of the R6 engine, making it extremely robust and long-lasting with regular maintenance. Many owners report trouble-free riding well past 50,000 km.

⚠️

Watch the Throttle Bodies

A known issue on used XJ6s is uneven throttle body synchronization, which causes rough idling or hesitation. Always test ride and listen for inconsistent engine behavior before buying.

💰

Strong Resale Value

The XJ6 holds its value well due to its popularity as a beginner-to-intermediate bike with broad appeal. Its practicality and low running costs keep demand steady in the used market.

Commuters and newer riders wanting quality reliability

"A genuinely sorted middleweight that earns its reputation through quiet competence."

$3,500-$6,500 used

The XJ6 is one of those bikes that doesn't get the credit it deserves on the used market. Yamaha built this thing properly — the inline-four pulls cleanly from about 4,000rpm and the throttle response is actually manageable for newer riders without feeling neutered to experienced ones. It's genuinely pleasant to ride in traffic, which matters more than most people admit when they're shopping. The half-fairing on the Diversion variant makes longer trips surprisingly comfortable for a middleweight. That said, go in with eyes open. The 600cc motor runs out of steam fast above 100mph — this isn't a canyon-carver or motorway missile. Stock suspension is soft and wallows under aggressive inputs, so if the previous owner was enthusiastic, check for wear. These bikes attract commuters, which means high mileage is common. Always check the front forks for leaks and the airbox for moisture damage — lazy owners skip both. Cosmetic fairings crack easily and replacements aren't cheap.
