The ie (fuel-injected) versions from 2008 onward are noticeably smoother than the carbed early models — hunt for those. Mechanically, the single-cylinder four-stroke is tough as old boots. What kills these on the used market is neglect: check the variator rollers, rear brake shoes (they wear invisibly), and look hard at the frame underbelly for crash damage that's been touched up with rattle can.
