That 200cc four-stroke single pulls cleanly from low revs, the automatic CVT is buttery smooth, and the underseat storage actually fits a full-face helmet — try that on a GTS 300. Ride quality is surprisingly accomplished for a scooter; twin rear shocks and leading-link front end soak up city potholes without drama. It's heavier than it looks though, around 150kg wet, so don't underestimate it when parking. Used examples are mostly well-loved commuters, so check the variator belt and rollers religiously — neglected ones will feel sluggish and flat. Rust around the chrome trim and seat hinge is almost universal on anything over 10 years old. Parts availability has tightened since Piaggio discontinued the 200L around 2007, so budget extra for consumables.
