Suzuki V-strom 650 Xt

The Suzuki V-strom 650 Xt has a top speed of 195 km/h (estimated; note: manufacturer does not officially publish top speed), produces 71 hp and weighs 216 kg. Motoryk rates it 8.5/10.

🔧

Bulletproof Engine Reliability

The 645cc V-twin engine is derived from the legendary SV650 and is widely regarded as one of the most durable middleweight engines ever built. Many owners report 50,000+ miles with minimal issues beyond routine maintenance.

⚠️

Watch the Throttle Bodies

A known issue on older models is throttle body synchronization falling out of spec, causing rough idle or surging at low speeds. This is an inexpensive fix but worth inspecting or negotiating on a used purchase.

💰

Strong Resale Value

The V-Strom 650 XT holds its value exceptionally well due to high demand and a loyal owner community, often retaining 70–80% of its value after two years. Its reputation for reliability makes it easy to sell when upgrading.

8.4/10

Pluspunten

+Kogelvrije motor, lage onderhoudskosten
+Flexibel hanteerbaar voor het gewicht
+Soepel, bruikbaar V-twin-koppel
+Uitstekend brandstofverbruik, 4,5 l/100 km
+Ontspannen ergonomie voor lange dagen

Nadelen

Geen ABS-norm, onaanvaardbare weglating
Bestraffing van stockstoelen na 200 km
Gegoten wielen beperken de vuilcapaciteit
Windbescherming nauwelijks voldoende boven 130 km/u

Commuters wanting capable weekend touring adventure

"The boring choice that's almost never the wrong choice."

$5,500-$8,500 used

The V-Strom 650 XT is arguably the most sensible used bike purchase you can make right now. The 645cc V-twin is virtually bulletproof — I've seen examples pushing 60,000 miles with nothing more than routine maintenance. The XT trim adds wire-spoked wheels that actually tubeless-convert nicely, plus hand guards and a bash plate, so you're getting genuine adventure capability without the posturing of something twice the price. Check the chain and sprockets on anything over 20k miles, inspect the fork seals, and make sure the previous owner didn't drop it in a gravel lot — the fairing tabs are fragile and replacements aren't cheap. Ergonomically it suits riders from 5'6" upward comfortably, the fuel economy sits around 55-60mpg, and the fuel tank gives you genuine 200-mile range between stops. It's not exciting — nobody's lying awake dreaming about one — but it does absolutely everything adequately and some things brilliantly. For a used buy, that's often exactly what you want.
