Piaggio Vespa Lx 125

The Piaggio Vespa Lx 125 has a top speed of 95 km/h, produces 10.5 hp and weighs 113 kg. Motoryk rates it 7.5/10.

🔧

Watch the Carb & Fuel

Older LX 125 carbureted models are prone to carburetor clogging if left sitting unused. Regular use and fresh fuel prevent most fuel system headaches.

💰

Strong Resale Value

The Vespa LX 125 holds its value exceptionally well compared to most scooters, thanks to the iconic brand name and timeless styling. A well-maintained example can retain 60-70% of its value after 3-4 years.

⚙️

Monocoque Steel Body

Unlike plastic-bodied competitors, the LX 125 features a full steel unibody frame that adds durability and a premium feel. However, inspect for rust around the floorboard and underbody if the scooter has lived in a wet climate.

7.4/10

Urban commuters wanting reliable Italian style daily

"Charming, dependable urban scooter that rewards careful buying and regular maintenance."

$2,000-$3,800 used

The Vespa LX 125 is genuinely charming, and I mean that in the most practical sense possible. It's a proper Italian scooter — not a cheap clone — and that quality shows in the fit, finish, and the way it holds its value annoyingly well on the used market. The single-cylinder three-valve engine is smooth and reliable if it's been serviced properly, but that's your first homework assignment: check the service history religiously. Variator belts, rollers, and the automatic transmission components need regular attention or they'll bite you. Buy one from a commuter who kept it garaged and serviced it at a Piaggio dealer. Walk away from anything that lived outside or has mystery mods. Parts aren't cheap and independent mechanics sometimes struggle with them. That said, a clean 2014-2018 example in the $2,500-$3,500 range is genuinely good value — reliable transport with style that won't embarrass you. Just don't expect sportbike thrills; top speed is around 60mph and that's exactly where it lives comfortably.
