Ktm Rc8

The Ktm Rc8 has a top speed of 270 km/h, produces 173 hp and weighs 189 kg. Motoryk rates it 7.5/10.

⚙️

Watch the V-Twin Valves

The RC8's 1148cc V-twin requires strict valve clearance checks every 6,000 miles — skipping this is the most common cause of costly engine damage reported by owners.

📉

Steep Depreciation Curve

The RC8 depreciated sharply after production ended in 2016, making used examples a strong value buy, though resale remains soft due to limited mainstream demand.

🏁

Race-Ready From Factory

KTM built the RC8 with fully adjustable WP suspension, a slipper clutch, and a lightweight trellis frame — giving it genuine track capability straight off the showroom floor.

8.2/10

+Torque V-twin, imediato e muscular
+Feedback e sensação excepcionais do chassi

Contras

Pressão do acelerador abaixo de 4.000 rpm
O conforto do assento expira rapidamente
2009–2016 Gen 2 (RC8 R)

Melhor para
Track-focused riders wanting exotic V-twin character

"A flawed masterpiece that demands commitment, cash, and mechanical sympathy."

$6,500-$11,000 used

The RC8 is one of those bikes that rewards the brave and punishes the lazy. That 1148cc V-twin has a genuinely savage character — it pulls hard from 4,000rpm and absolutely screams past 8,000. Nothing else sounds quite like it. But here's the thing: KTM's build quality from this era was inconsistent at best. Check the frame for stress cracks around the headstock, inspect the throttle bodies carefully, and budget for a valve check if the seller can't prove it's been done. Ergonomics are brutally committed. This isn't a bike you'll commute on comfortably — the riding position is full-tuck race stuff, and your wrists will remind you of that around mile 50. Pre-2011 models had suspension issues that KTM partially addressed, so hunt for a later example with service history. WP suspension can be expensive to rebuild properly, so factor that into your budget. Parts availability has improved but isn't Honda-level easy.
