Harley-davidson Dyna Switchback

The Harley-davidson Dyna Switchback has a top speed of 175 km/h (estimated), produces 67 hp and weighs 318 kg. Motoryk rates it 7.5/10.

🔄

Dual Personality Design

The Switchback features a unique quick-detach fairing and saddlebags, letting riders convert between a touring and naked street bike in minutes. This versatility makes it exceptionally appealing to buyers who want two bikes in one.

⚠️

Watch the Compensator

The 103ci Twin Cam engine is known for compensator sprocket wear, which causes a loud clunking noise on startup — a common and costly repair if ignored. Always listen for this during a pre-purchase inspection.

📈

Strong Resale Holding

The Switchback was only produced from 2012 to 2016, making it a relatively rare Dyna variant that holds its value better than more common models. Its limited production run and unique features keep used prices competitive.

Évaluation d'un acheteur d'occasion

7.5/10
Idéal pour
Riders wanting cruiser and tourer in one

"The most genuinely versatile Dyna ever built, if maintained properly."

$7,500-$13,500 used

The Switchback is Harley's clever party trick — a touring bike that strips down to a cruiser in about 20 minutes. Detachable fairing, fold-flat bags, it genuinely works. On the used market you're typically looking at 2012-2016 examples, and the 103ci Twin Cam engine is the sweet spot. It's torquey, characterful, and reasonably reliable if the previous owner wasn't a complete savage about maintenance. Check the primary chain tensioner and look hard at the rear cam chain tensioner — that's the Achilles heel on these motors. Riding it, the Dyna chassis is noticeably sharper than Softail or Touring platforms. It actually moves around corners with some intent. The switchback function is genuinely useful if you do mixed riding — weekend blasts plus occasional longer hauls. Ergonomics suit medium-height riders well. Avoid anything with excessive customization or obvious crash damage on the right footpeg area, that's your telltale low-side indicator. For the money, it's a genuinely versatile American V-twin that doesn't make you choose between styles.
