Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 Review
"A seriously underrated adventure tourer that deserves far more recognition."
Used Buyer Review
The Super Ténéré is a proper adventure bike from an era before every manufacturer lost their minds chasing GS sales. The 1199cc parallel twin pulls hard from low revs, the chassis is confidence-inspiring on gravel, and the optional electronic suspension on later models genuinely works. Buy one with the ESA if you can find it — it transforms the bike on mixed terrain runs. That said, go in with eyes open. These things drink fuel at a rate that'll embarrass you, the stock seat is an instrument of torture past 200 miles, and the infotainment is prehistoric by modern standards. Check the bevel drive carefully — it's not a common failure point but it's expensive when it goes wrong. Shaft final drive overall though is a big tick for touring use. For the money, you're getting a serious, underrated machine that bigger adventure riders especially appreciate. It never got the recognition it deserved. Low mileage examples under 25,000 miles represent genuinely strong value right now.
