Used Buyer Review

The SYM Jet SL 125 is one of those scooters that quietly does everything right without ever demanding your attention. For urban commuting it's genuinely competent โ€” the fuel injection starts cold without drama, the underseat storage swallows a full-face helmet, and the disc brake up front gives you actual confidence in the wet. SYM's build quality has improved massively over the past decade, and these things hold together remarkably well if the previous owner wasn't an idiot about servicing. That said, go in with realistic expectations. The 125cc single runs out of breath around 60mph indicated, so dual carriageways are a white-knuckle affair. Check the variator rollers on anything over 8,000 miles โ€” they wear and kill top-end performance noticeably. Also inspect the exhaust header for rust bubbling near the collector; it's a known weak point on earlier examples. Grab a service history, check for crash damage around the fairing lowers, and you'll likely walk away with a solid, low-drama machine.

Pros

+Reliable fuel-injected engine
+Decent underseat storage space
+Strong parts availability
+Confidence-inspiring front disc
+Frugal on fuel costs

Cons

-Breathless above 60mph
-Variator rollers wear quickly
-Exhaust header rusts early
-Bland, forgettable riding character
