Swm Silverback 400 Review
"Capable niche adventurer ruined by catastrophic parts and dealer support."
Used Buyer Review
The SWM Silverback 400 is basically a rebadged Husqvarna TR650 Terra underneath, which means the bones are solid even if the brand recognition is almost zero. That Royal Enfield-sourced single makes decent torque for trail riding and light adventure work, and the chassis handles gravel roads and forest tracks without complaint. Find a good one and you've got a capable mid-size ADV bike for not much money. Here's the honest part though — parts availability is genuinely painful. SWM never established a strong dealer network and tracking down specific components can mean weeks of waiting or fabricating your own solutions. Inspect any used example carefully for bodged repairs, because owners often went DIY out of necessity rather than choice. Check the cooling system, brake lines, and electrical connectors particularly hard. If you can find a well-maintained example from a mechanically competent owner, the Silverback 400 offers genuine value. Budget an extra few hundred for a parts stockpile immediately after purchase. This isn't a bike for someone who needs a dealer down the road.
