Piaggio Vespa Vxl 125 Review
"Gorgeous, characterful scooter that rewards meticulous buyers only."
Used Buyer Review
The VXL 125 is Piaggio's attempt at bringing old-school Vespa charm to the Indian market without completely gutting your wallet. That steel monocoque body is genuinely beautiful — it'll turn heads in ways a Honda Activa never will. The 125cc three-valve engine pulls cleanly through traffic, and the ride quality on Indian roads is surprisingly composed for a scooter in this segment. It feels premium because it largely is. That said, buying one used means playing a careful game. These things are notoriously finicky about maintenance — skip a service interval and the carbureted engine starts hunting at idle. Check the chrome work obsessively; rust creeps in around the legshield and rear grab handles. Parts availability outside major cities is genuinely painful, and dealer service quality varies wildly. Also inspect the front drum brake carefully — it's adequate but needs proper adjustment to feel confident. If the seller has full service records from an authorized Piaggio dealer, you're in decent shape. If they've been to the local mechanic, walk carefully.
