Kymco Xciting S 400 Review
"Brilliant value maxi-scooter if parts support doesn't scare you."
Used Buyer Review
The Xciting S 400 is one of those scooters that genuinely surprises you. Kymco built something properly grown-up here — the parallel-twin 399cc motor pulls smoothly from low revs, the suspension feels composed over rough tarmac, and that TFT dash with smartphone connectivity actually works. For urban commuting mixed with weekend blasts, it punches well above its price point. Used examples from 2018 onward are the ones to target. That said, go in with eyes open. Parts availability is the big one — Kymco's dealer network is thin in most markets, so budget extra time for anything beyond consumables. The underseat storage is shallower than it looks in photos, and the windscreen buffeting at 70mph gets old fast on longer runs. Check the CVT belt carefully on anything over 12,000 miles, and inspect the coolant hoses on older examples. For the money, though? Seriously hard to beat. You're getting near-Forza quality at roughly 60-70% of the price. Just make sure your nearest dealer isn't three states away.
