Used Buyer Review

The People GT 300 is one of those scooters that punches well above its price bracket, especially used. Kymco built something genuinely competent here โ€” the 278cc single pulls cleanly from low revs, tops out around 85mph without drama, and the underseat storage will swallow a full-face helmet. It's not exciting, but it's honest, and for urban commuting plus occasional highway hops, that matters more than you'd think. Buy used and you're getting solid value, but go in with eyes open. These age around the plastics first โ€” check for brittle clips, faded panels, and cracked fairings near the footboards. The CVT belt needs replacing every 12,000 miles and owners often skip it. Front suspension is underdamped from the factory and previous owners rarely upgrade it. Brakes are adequate but nothing more. Spend time inspecting the service history. A well-maintained GT 300 with 15,000 miles is a bargain. A neglected one with 8,000 is a parts hunt waiting to happen.

Pros

+Punchy, reliable 278cc engine
+Massive underseat storage
+Highway-capable for money
+Parts reasonably priced
+Comfortable upright ergonomics

Cons

-Plastics crack and fade badly
-Soft front suspension
-CVT maintenance often neglected
-Bland, forgettable styling
