Used Buyer Review

The Vulcan S is Kawasaki doing something genuinely clever โ€” taking the Ninja 650 platform and dressing it in cruiser clothes. That parallel-twin engine is bulletproof, and the ErgoFit adjustability system means riders from 5'2" to 6'4" can actually make this bike work for their body. Used examples are everywhere right now, which keeps prices honest. Check the adjustable footpegs and handlebar reach โ€” previous owners often set these wrong and never revisit them. Watch for cosmetic damage around the lower fairings, as they catch kerb scrapes constantly. The stock seat goes hard around 90 minutes, so find a used example that already has an aftermarket seat fitted โ€” you'll save yourself the hassle. Belt drive is low-maintenance but inspect it carefully for cracking or fraying. The 649cc engine rarely causes drama; these motors genuinely last 50,000+ miles with basic servicing. It's not the most exciting bike in any direction, but that's almost the point. Reliable, comfortable enough, handles decently for a cruiser, and parts are cheap. Solid sensible choice.

Pros

+Adjustable ergonomics suit everyone
+Parallel-twin engine lives forever
+Low maintenance belt drive
+Surprisingly competent handling
+Parts availability is excellent

Cons

-Stock seat punishes longer rides
-Styling divides opinion sharply
-Low resale value retention
-Lacks character and soul
