Used Buyer Review

The Wave Alpha 110 is about as unglamorous as motorcycling gets, and that's precisely why it works. Honda built this thing to be used hard by people who actually need transportation, not weekend hobbyists. The 110cc single is bulletproof if maintained โ€” these engines routinely hit 60,000-80,000km without drama. Check the cam chain tensioner on higher-mileage examples and inspect the front fork seals, which tend to weep around 30,000km. Carburetor jetting can go rich if jets haven't been cleaned in years. Used examples are everywhere in Southeast Asian markets and increasingly in budget Western markets. That ubiquity is the real selling point โ€” parts are dirt cheap and any mechanic who's touched a wrench knows this platform. Don't expect excitement. Fuel economy around 55-60km/L is genuinely impressive, and the underbone ergonomics suit urban commuting better than most people admit. Just accept it for what it is: reliable, cheap, and completely honest about its limitations.

Pros

+Near-indestructible 110cc engine
+Exceptional real-world fuel economy
+Parts cheap and universal
+Low maintenance running costs
+Proven decade-long reliability record

Cons

-Zero excitement whatsoever
-Drum brakes feel dated
-Thin seat on long rides
-Suspect fork seals age badly

You want any riding enjoyment whatsoever
