Aprilia Sr 160 Review
"A genuinely premium urban scooter, but only if maintained properly."
Used Buyer Review
The SR 160 is Aprilia playing the premium scooter card in a segment dominated by Honda Activa clones, and largely it works. That 160cc single breathes well enough for city riding — you're not embarrassed at traffic lights — and the suspension setup is genuinely planted compared to most Indian-market scooters. The build quality feels a notch above the TVS and Honda competition, and those Pirelli tyres inspire real confidence in the wet. Buying used, though, you need to do your homework. The fuel injection system can throw fits if previous owners ran dodgy petrol or skipped servicing. Check the throttle response is clean and there's no hunting at idle. The underseat storage is laughably small for a 160, and early examples had issues with the front brake lever feel going wooden. Insist on full service history and inspect the frame near the headstock for any stress marks — urban India is brutal on scooter frames. Parts availability outside major cities remains patchy.
