Royal Enfield Meteor 350

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 has a top speed of ~130 km/h, produces 20.2 hp and weighs 191 kg. Motoryk rates it 7.5/10.

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 was introduced in November 2020, replacing the aging Thunderbird series and marking a significant step forward for the brand with an all-new J-series single-cylinder engine platform. It was the first motorcycle to debut Royal Enfield's new-generation 350cc engine architecture, which went on to underpin several subsequent models including the Classic 350 and Hunter 350. The Meteor is notable for its relaxed cruiser ergonomics, modern electronics, and Tripper navigation system, making it one of the most feature-rich offerings in its segment.

What Buyers Should Know

🔧

Rock-Solid Engine Reliability

The Meteor 350 uses Royal Enfield's J-series engine, widely praised for its smooth, low-vibration performance and long-term durability. Owners commonly report 30,000+ km with minimal mechanical issues when serviced regularly.

⚠️

Watch for Electrical Gremlins

Some early Meteor 350 units reported minor electrical issues including loose connectors and inconsistent instrument cluster behavior. Inspect all electrics carefully on used models, especially those from the 2021-2022 production run.

💰

Strong Resale Value

The Meteor 350 holds its value exceptionally well in the mid-size cruiser segment, often retaining 75-85% of its value after two years. Its brand popularity and broad service network across India and globally keep demand consistently high.

7.2/10

"Honest British iron that demands respect and patience."

The Meteor 350 pulls with a lazy, unhurried grunt that makes sense the moment you stop fighting it and ride at its pace — somewhere between 70 and 90 km/h is where this engine sounds happiest, the cast iron barrel warming up properly and the OHV single finding its rhythm. The separate gearbox shifts with a deliberate clunk that you either learn to love or despise; neutral is a lottery at standstill and you'll miss it daily until muscle memory kicks in after a few hundred miles. Oil weeps from somewhere new every fortnight — the primary chaincase, the pushrod tubes, the rocker box — and a well-worn toolkit lives permanently under the seat if you have any sense. But there's a mechanical honesty here that modern bikes have completely abandoned: you can hear every valve, feel every piston stroke, and actually understand what the engine is doing beneath you.

Pros

+Torquey low-rev pulling power
+Rebuildable with basic tools
+Commanding upright riding position
+Characterful exhaust note

Cons

Oil seals weep constantly
Gearbox vague, neutral elusive
Drum brakes need early planning
Spares require specialist hunting
Best for: Patient classic enthusiasts with spanners Skip if: You need daily reliable commuting

"The best Royal Enfield ever built, warts and all."

$3,500-$5,200 used

The Meteor 350 is probably the most sorted Royal Enfield has ever built, and used examples are genuinely compelling value right now. The J-platform engine is smooth, oil-tight, and doesn't rattle itself apart like older Bullets — buy a 2021 or newer and you're getting a fundamentally reliable motorcycle. Check for fork seal weeps and inspect the tripper navigation pod wiring, which can get flaky on early cars. Electrics are the weak point across the board. Riding it, you get a genuinely relaxed 350cc single that pulls cleanly from low revs, handles twisties better than its cruiser styling suggests, and won't punish you on longer rides. It's not fast — highway cruising above 75mph feels strained — but it was never supposed to be. The finishing quality is inconsistent; some bikes are immaculate, others have paint issues and chrome that pits early. Inspect carefully before buying. For the money, nothing else gives you this much character and usability. Just budget for upgraded tyres immediately — the stock MRFs are genuinely dangerous in the wet.
