Used Buyer Review

The FreeGo 125 is Yamaha's answer to the smart commuter scooter segment, and honestly it does most things right. The Blue Core engine is genuinely refined for a 125 — smooth, fuel-sipping, and reliable if the previous owner wasn't completely negligent. That underseat storage is genuinely cavernous, and the keyless ignition feels premium until it develops gremlins around the 15,000km mark, which it sometimes does. Check that system works flawlessly before handing over cash. On a used example, inspect the CVT belt and rollers — they're consumables that budget-conscious owners skip. The suspension is set up soft, which suits city riding but feels vague if you're pushing it on twisty backroads. Don't buy this expecting sporty. Buy it expecting sensible. Parts availability is decent in Southeast Asian markets less so elsewhere. If you're buying second-hand, anything under 20,000km with full service history is a genuinely solid deal. It's not exciting, but it won't let you down either — and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
