Suzuki V-strom 1000 Review
"Unbeatable value adventure tourer if you buy smart."
Used Buyer Review
The V-Strom 1000 is one of the great unsung workhorses of the used bike market. That 90-degree V-twin pulls hard from about 3,000rpm and never really stops — it's genuinely usable torque, not just numbers on a spec sheet. The chassis is forgiving without feeling sloppy, and you can hustle it through corners with real confidence once you stop treating it like a boat. Early models pre-2014 had some fueling grumpiness at low throttle openings, so budget for a Power Commander or throttle body sync if you go that route. Check the bevel gears on the shaft drive religiously — neglected oil changes trash them faster than you'd think. Also inspect the subframe mounting points if you're looking at anything with luggage history. These bikes get worked, and they show it. The good news is parts are cheap, dealers know them, and the community support online is excellent. At the right price, it's a 600-mile-day machine that costs Tuesday-night money. Hard to argue with that.
