Ktm Adventure 790 R Review
"The sharpest used adventure buy under ten grand, full stop."
Used Buyer Review
The 790 Adventure R is genuinely one of the best mid-size adventure bikes ever built, and buying one used is smart money right now. That parallel twin is bulletproof if it's been serviced properly — check the valve clearances have been done around 15,000 miles because skipped services are the main thing that'll bite you. The suspension is WP Xplor units front and rear, properly adjustable and genuinely capable off-road, not the watered-down stuff KTM fits to lesser models. What you're really buying is a bike that feels alive in a way the BMW F850GS and Triumph Tiger 900 simply don't. It's lighter, sharper, and rewards proper riding. The electronics package — cornering ABS, multiple riding modes, traction control — is genuinely class-leading for the era. Battery issues and orange chain wear are known niggles, so inspect both carefully. Avoid anything that looks like it's been dropped hard in the dirt without proper repair — check the subframe and bash plate mounting points specifically.
