Ktm 890 Adventure R Review
"The sharpest used adventure buy under ten grand, minor asterisks apply."
Used Buyer Review
The 890 Adventure R is KTM's sweet spot — aggressive enough to actually use off-road, comfortable enough to tour on. That 889cc parallel-twin pulls hard from low revs and the WP XPLOR suspension is genuinely capable in the dirt, not just marketing fluff. On used examples, check the subframe carefully around the rear mounting points, they crack if the previous owner got ambitious on rough terrain. The electronics package is excellent for the era — cornering ABS, multiple ride modes, traction control that actually makes sense rather than just killing your fun. Used pricing is still strong because demand hasn't softened much. Expect cosmetic damage on anything under 20,000 miles — these get ridden properly, not garage-kept. Service intervals are 9,300 miles and KTM dealers aren't always cheap, so factor that in. The seat will destroy you on long days without an aftermarket replacement, and most used bikes will already have one fitted which tells you everything.
