Honda Vt750 Shadow Spirit Review
"The most reliable used cruiser under four grand, full stop."
Used Buyer Review
The VT750 Shadow Spirit is one of those bikes that quietly does everything right without ever demanding your attention. Honda's 745cc V-twin is virtually bulletproof — I've seen examples with 40,000 miles running like new after nothing more than routine maintenance. The low seat height and manageable weight make it genuinely accessible, but don't mistake that for boring. It pulls cleanly from low revs and has enough grunt for real-world riding, including highway stints that won't leave you exhausted. Buying used, watch for neglected final drive shaft — it's shaft-driven, which is a blessing long-term but can get expensive if a previous owner ignored the service intervals. Check the carbs on pre-2007 models, as they gum up badly from ethanol-blend fuel sitting over winter. Fork seals are another common wear item. The 2007-2009 fuel-injected versions are the sweet spot — dramatically easier to live with and usually priced fairly.
