Honda Vt1100 Shadow Review
"Reliable, affordable cruiser that rewards patient riders over aggressive ones."
Used Buyer Review
The VT1100 Shadow is Honda's answer to the Harley crowd, and honestly? It does a decent job. The 1100cc V-twin pulls strongly from low revs, it's butter-smooth compared to anything Milwaukee builds, and the electrics just work. Buy a 20-year-old Shadow and it'll probably start first kick. That reliability is genuinely rare in this segment. Here's what nobody tells you though — the handling is pure barge. It's heavy, slow-steering, and hates being rushed into corners. The seat also turns your backside to concrete after about 90 minutes. Previous owners typically add highway pegs and aftermarket seats, which is actually a good sign when buying used — means it's been ridden properly. Check the carbs carefully on anything pre-2000. They gum up badly if the bike sat unused, and a carb rebuild eats into your budget fast. Also inspect the final drive shaft — it's bulletproof but not immortal. Overall, solid value for relaxed mile-eating.
