Used Buyer Review

The Crosstourer is Honda's forgotten adventure-tourer, and honestly? That's your gain. Based on the VFR1200's V4, it makes a glorious noise and pulls hard from low revs in a way parallel-fours simply can't match. The DCT version is genuinely brilliant for two-up touring โ€” your passenger will thank you, and so will your left knee on day three of a long trip. Check the DCT fluid service history obsessively; neglect it and you're looking at serious money. Used examples tend to be well-maintained by older, experienced owners who actually read the manual, which is reassuring. Watch for corrosion around the exhaust headers and check the shaft drive for play. Screen buffeting at motorway speeds is real and annoying โ€” budget for an aftermarket screen immediately. Panniers on older bikes often have dodgy hinges too. It's heavier than a GS and not as capable off-road, but on tarmac touring it's genuinely impressive. You're buying a niche bike with limited aftermarket support, so parts sourcing requires patience.

Pros

+V4 soundtrack is exceptional
+DCT transforms long-distance riding
+Shaft drive, zero chain fuss
+Honda reliability, bulletproof engine
+Comfortable two-up capability

Cons

-Serious screen buffeting issues
-Heavy, limited off-road ability
-Scarce aftermarket parts support
-DCT servicing costs add up
