Harley-davidson Softail Slim Review
"A characterful, honest cruiser that rewards patient, smooth riders."

Used Buyer Review
The Softail Slim is Harley's most honest retro cruiser โ it doesn't pretend to be a sport bike and doesn't apologize for it. The 107ci Milwaukee-Eight (post-2018 bikes) transforms this from a competent cruiser into something genuinely enjoyable, with real torque that rewards lazy throttle work and highway pulls. Pre-2018 Twin Cams are fine but run hotter and vibrate more aggressively at speed. Check the primary chain tensioner on anything pre-2016 โ it's a known weak spot that owners quietly ignore until it becomes your problem. Used examples flood the market because Harley buyers upgrade constantly, which means you can find low-mileage Slims for reasonable money. Look for bikes with the stage one upgrade already done โ most have it. Avoid anything with suspension modifications unless you know what was fitted. The stock suspension is already mediocre; wrong aftermarket parts make it genuinely dangerous. The 16-inch front wheel looks period-correct but limits steering input significantly compared to bigger-wheeled alternatives.
