CFMoto 800MT Explorer Review
"Brilliant budget adventure tourer if you buy the right example."

Used Buyer Review
The 800MT Explorer is one of those bikes that genuinely surprises you. CFMoto borrowed the 799cc parallel-twin from KTM's parts bin, so the engine is legitimately proven hardware — punchy mid-range, smooth fuelling, and it'll cruise at highway speeds all day without drama. For the money, used examples sitting between $7,000-$9,000 are hard to argue against when comparable European adventure bikes cost twice that. That said, do your homework before handing over cash. Early 2022 models had reported throttle-by-wire hiccups and some electrical gremlins around the dash. Check the service history religiously — Chinese-brand owners sometimes skip dealer servicing thinking any mechanic will do, and warranty work gets messy. Parts availability has improved but it's still nothing like sourcing bits for a Honda or BMW. Also inspect the switchgear carefully; it feels plasticky and owners have reported premature wear. Bottom line: if you find a clean, dealer-serviced example with under 15,000km, this is genuinely good value adventure touring. Just don't expect Japanese reliability or European dealer networks.
