Bmw R 1250 Gs Adventure Review
"The benchmark adventure bike that genuinely earns its premium price tag."
Used Buyer Review
The R 1250 GS Adventure is genuinely as good as the hype suggests, but buying used requires homework. The 1254cc ShiftCam engine is bulletproof past 20,000 miles if serviced properly — pull the service records or walk away. Check the throttle bodies for carbon buildup and inspect the spline shaft, which can wear on bikes that skipped lubrication intervals. Pre-2021 models had a recall on the fuel pump; verify it's been done. Electronics are the real selling point here. Dynamic ESA, cornering ABS, and multiple riding modes aren't just marketing fluff — they genuinely transform the bike on mixed terrain. That said, a single sensor failure can trigger a dashboard Christmas tree, and dealer diagnostics aren't cheap. Budget $500-800 annually for maintenance on a used example and you won't be surprised.
