SRAD ram-air was genuine tech
SRAD stands for Suzuki Ram Air Direct — twin ducts in the nose feed pressurised air straight to the airbox, so the carburetted 599cc four makes noticeably stronger top-end at speed than it does on a static dyno. It was the bike that made the 600 supersport class a horsepower war.
Check charging, cams and corrosion
Watch for weak regulator/rectifier and stator output (test battery voltage at 5,000rpm — should be ~14V), rattly cam chain tensioners, worn 2nd-gear dogs that cause it to jump out under load, and gummed Mikuni carbs on bikes stored unused. Lacquer peel on the frame, corroded wheels and seized rear suspension linkage bearings are also very common by now.
