Tough engine, weak electrics
The 988cc K2 motor is famously durable and often runs past 60,000 miles with just oil and valve checks, but the charging system is the weak link — a failing stator or regulator/rectifier is the single most common breakdown, so check for dim lights, hot batteries or melted connectors.
