Kymco Super 8 125

The Kymco Super 8 125 has a top speed of 95 km/h, produces 8.5 hp and weighs 108 kg. Motoryk rates it 6/10.

🔧

Solid Budget Reliability

KYMCO is consistently rated among the most reliable budget scooter brands, and the Super 8 125 benefits from a proven air-cooled 4-stroke engine that requires minimal maintenance. It's a strong choice for daily commuters who want low running costs.

⚠️

Watch the Variator

The most common issue reported by owners is premature variator and belt wear, especially if the scooter is frequently ridden at full throttle from a stop. Inspecting or replacing the variator belt every 6,000–8,000 miles is a smart preventive step.

💰

Modest Resale Value

The Super 8 125 depreciates fairly quickly compared to Honda or Yamaha equivalents, which makes used examples very affordable to buy but means you won't recoup much if you sell. Budget buyers benefit most from purchasing used.

6.8/10

+Estilo retro genuino, no pastiche
+Asiento bajo, fácil para principiantes
+Consumo de combustible frugal

Contras

Urban commuters wanting cheap, reliable daily transport

"Cheap, reliable urban transport — just forget about keeping up with traffic."

$1,200-$2,500 used

Look, the Super 8 125 is exactly what it is — a budget commuter scooter wearing motorcycle styling. Kymco built their reputation on reliability, and these things genuinely deliver that. The engine is almost insultingly simple to maintain, and parts are cheap when something does go wrong. Fuel economy is genuinely impressive, regularly hitting 80-90mpg in real-world riding. That said, don't kid yourself about performance. The 125cc single struggles noticeably on anything above 50mph, and highway riding feels genuinely sketchy. Build quality is acceptable but not impressive — check the bodywork panels on any used example because they crack and rattle loose. The brakes are mediocre at best, so budget for pad replacements immediately. Inspect the CVT belt carefully; neglected ones snap without warning. For urban commuting under 40mph, these make solid financial sense used. Just don't expect a motorcycle experience — it's a dressed-up scooter pretending otherwise.
