"Brute, brillante, épuisante : l'arme d'aventure monocylindre originale."

J'ai parcouru 18 000 km sur un modèle 2009 sur du tarmac, des routes blindées et des décisions vraiment stupides en tout-terrain, et la LC4 ne m'a jamais déçue mécaniquement, bien qu'elle ait essayé de secouer mes réservoirs à des vitesses de croisière sur autoroute. Ce moteur de 654 cm3 tire fort dès 3 000 tr/min avec un couple qui ressemble presque à celui du diesel sur du gravier meuble, et son châssis élancé vous permet de le lancer comme une vraie moto tout-terrain malgré un poids à vide de 158 kg. Le siège est un instrument médiéval de souffrance au bout de deux heures, les rétroviseurs vibrent et deviennent inutiles à plus de 100 km/h, et la suspension d'origine est suffisamment souple pour que les virages rapides sur asphalte nécessitent un réel engagement et une véritable confiance. Mais rien d'autre en 2008 ne vous offrait ce type de véritable capacité bisport à ce prix. C'était une révélation, y compris les défauts.

The 690 Enduro R is genuinely one of the most capable single-cylinder adventure machines ever built, but buying one used requires homework. That LC4 engine is a screamer when healthy — 67hp from a thumper feels almost violent — but neglected examples with sketchy service history will punish you financially. Check the valve clearances obsessively. KTM specifies tight intervals and previous owners routinely skip them. The chassis is where this bike earns its reputation. WP suspension that actually works, a proper subframe, and geometry that makes technical trails feel approachable. It's genuinely light too, which matters when you're hauling it out of a ditch. Fuel range is the elephant in the room though — 13 liters disappears fast and you will get stranded if you're not planning stops. Pre-2019 models had some known fuel injection gremlins and a clutch that drinks fluid. Post-2019 is significantly sorted. Budget for consumables regardless — these bikes work hard and parts aren't cheap. Worth every penny if maintained right.
