买家应该知道什么
Evo 1340 is bulletproof
The air-cooled Evolution 1340 is widely considered Harley's most reliable big twin, often running 100,000+ miles with routine maintenance. Unlike the later Twin Cam, it has no cam chain tensioner shoes to self-destruct.
Leaks and vibration cracks
Check for weeping rocker box gaskets (the early three-piece design was revised in 1992) and cam-cover/base-gasket seepage. The solid-mounted Softail engine also shakes hard at idle, so inspect exhaust brackets, mounts, and wiring for fatigue cracks, plus the hidden horizontal rear shocks that are easy to neglect.
Last Evo Softails hold value
1999 was the final year before the rubber-less Twin Cam 88B arrived, and carbureted Evo Softails — especially the 1990–91 first-run Fat Boys with silver paint and yellow trim made famous by Terminator 2 — have become genuine collector bikes. Original paint, matching numbers, and documented low miles can add thousands over a modified example.
