🔧

Bulletproof Minarelli AM6 engine

It uses the liquid-cooled 6-speed Minarelli AM6 two-stroke, the most common 50cc engine in Europe, so pistons, cranks, gaskets and full tuning kits are cheap and available almost everywhere. Rebuilds are simple enough for a home mechanic, which is why these bikes rarely get scrapped for engine failure.

⚠️

Check for de-restriction abuse

Most examples have been de-restricted or tuned by teenage owners, so inspect for scored cylinders, tired crank seals, coolant weeping from the water pump seal and a worn clutch. Also check the plastic reed valve block and exhaust for signs of an over-revved, poorly jetted engine.

🏆

Factory spec commands a premium

Racing and Factory trims add upgraded forks, adjustable rear shock, better brakes and (on Factory) an aluminium swingarm and lightweight wheels, which lifts resale noticeably over base RR models. Because 50cc learner-legal bikes are always in demand for 16-year-olds, clean low-hour Betas hold their value far better than Chinese-built rivals.
